I have been working a serum to revitalize hair and scalp. I discovered two plants in particular, Horsetail and Stinging Nettle. Both are abundant near my home in Cobble Hill, B.C. Horsetail has one of the highest silica contents of any plant on earth, this plant can strengthen hair, improve circulation on scalp, stimulate new growth and help with dandruff. Stinging Nettle nourishes scalp with vitamins and nutrients, strengthening hair and possibly preventing hair loss. I was excited to harvest these plants to be used in an herbal infusion for a hair serum but also dried to be steeped into a tea and taken internally. The health benefits are too many to list in this small article. One day I hope to have an open cupboard lined with beautiful medicinal plant materials made into teas, herbal infusions and tinctures. In the meantime, I have created an awesome hair serum. Along with horsetail and nettle, a complex blend of essential oils as well as jojoba, argan and rosehip oils. I’m not going to make ridiculous claims about any of my natural skincare products, I just love that I can create something beautiful using only natural ingredients instead of chemical laden products on the market today.
